Hi, I’m Gina. I’m a former physiotherapist assistant currently working as a healthcare assistant.
I recently noticed that I am devoided of my natural tendencies (curiosity, passion, exploration, and creativity) in my current job. So, why am I here? Why am I doing this? Why am I giving all of my time and energy away and still feeling unfulfilled?
After some reflection and soul-searching, I began to realise that I was not passionate about what I was doing, but also what my true passion was. I started exploring my long-time fascination with computers and how they work. I picked up a few books, and spent hours reading them in coffee shops; getting completely drawn into those pages. I began to experiment with basic code, and recognised that this is what I should be doing. Therefore, I took a big leap of faith - I went online and searched for coding courses for beginners.
After many hours of searching, studying, and reading reviews, I discovered one that stood out: SheCodes. Their message and mission resonated with me; they teach busy women how to code in order to help decrease the gender disparity in the tech industry. So, I signed up. It was one of the best decisions I have made, and I owe my current ability to their teaching.
I began learning to code in 2021, and I still get so much joy out of it. I am still developing my abilities to write clean, responsive, and legible code with every workshop I attend. I have learned the technologies below, but my journey is not over. I plan to continue until I have mastered them.
